Activity 1 Enlarging biomass district heating
All biomass is provided from local wood industry. The capacity however is larger; therefore the existing district heating system could be enlarged toward northeast part of the community. Nominal power of boilers will be enlarged for 3 MW and CHP will be build.
Summarized the extension includes:
- extension of the existing biomass capacity;
- adding of a biomass cogeneration engine;
- extension of the grid;
- connection of new and existing buildings to the extended grid.
Activity 2 low energy buildings with connection to mine water
Following end users will be connected to the local district pipeline of the warm minewater well:
- New shopping/commerce centre 4000 m2;
- Municipality youth centre 2000 m2 This concerns the complete retrofitting of an existing
building (former community building for miners) to the level of a new building.
Following end users will be connected to the local district pipeline of the cold mine water well:
- Public swimming pool 2000 m2 (cooling and de-moisturising)
Note: the heating of the swimming pool (comfort heating and water) is realised
by connection to the biomass net.
Thermal insulation and ventilation of all new buildings and are on CONCERTO level. The swimming pool and the youth centre will also have a solar system (thermal); the youth centre also a PV system (50m2) plus two large solar systems.
Activity 3 Retrofitting residential buildings and connection to biomass grid
In the area are 28 blocks situated of which in the current situation 25 blocks (1100 apartments) already are connected with the biomass grid and 3 blocks with 54 dwellings are not connected (local heating).
In activity 3 a number of these blocks will be totally retrofitted (building envelope). The 3 blocks with local heating will be connected with the biomass grid. In all blocks the DHW is heated by electric boilers. These electric boilers will be replaced by heating by biomass by heat exchangers connected in the grid.
Activity 4 energy monitoring and certification of public and CONCERTO buildings
An important part of this sustainable development is to established the energy consumption monitoring in Municipality Zagorje with emphases on the building sector and the development of an energy conservation plan in public buildings and the CONCERTO buildings to initiate Directive on the Energy Performance of the buildings and new National acts.
